Littoral Rhythm

Aerial photography showing the extent of ocean pollution from above captured my imagination; it depicted a black cloud of plastic and excrement making its way into the sea. The photos are at once stark and staggering, and sublime at the same time.

‘Water’s Littoral’ is a response to the photography. It invites the viewer to witness the force and strength of our life-sustaining waters in spite of man-made abuses. Mother Earth fighting her good fight against the odds and in spite of her ongoing abuse. Water, sea and ocean as a metaphor for majestic feminine power, with sea water from local shores used as an elemental and fundamental connection to our life-giving waters. It is a protest against ecological destruction, by embracing the ecofeminist energy of Mother Nature’s spirit, recognising nature as having agency and resilience.

Features Sodalite, Labradorite, Amazonite, Tiger’s Eye, Red Jasper, Lepidolite, and Yellow Aventurine semi-precious gemstones.
